About us

The College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungbuk National University is an institution that nurtures creative and right veterinarians who lead glocal innovation, improve human health, promote animal welfare, and lead One Health of healthy human-animal-nature. Through this, we are producing veterinarians who are good at animal care, veterinarians who specialize in One Health, and veterinarians who are socially responsible.

This institution was founded in 1989 as the Department of Veterinary Medicine and was promoted to the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993, and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019. In the meantime, it has developed in a relatively short period of time, making it one of the best Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in Korea. The College of Veterinary Medicine, which started at a corner of the College of Agriculture, Chungbuk National University, has education and research facilities to nurture competent veterinarians such as Veterinary Halls 1 and 2, Animal Teaching Hospital, Laboratory Animal Research Center, and Wildlife Center. In addition, we are making rapid progress by carrying out big national R & D projects such as BK21 plus, Priority Research Centers Program, School-Based Enterprise of Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Wildlife Center and Companion Animal-based Translational Cancer Center. Recently, it has become the best veterinary college in the media and university evaluation.

The College of Veterinary Medicine has achieved 100% success in the Veterinary National Examination for almost half of the 30-year history of veterinary medicine with the help of excellent faculty members and enthusiastic students. We are proud of our 100% success rate in the last five years. In 2017, through the efficient operation of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum that fits the six-year interdisciplinary system, we obtained a five-year full accreditation for veterinary education from the Korea Veterinary Education Accreditation Institute. In January 2020, we attracted agri-food technology convergence creative human resource development project and became the only one health education institution in the nation that supports the establishment and operation of a specialized graduate school for prevention of the national disasters originated from animal diseases. Currently, more than 1,200 graduates fulfill their social responsibilities as a clinical veterinarian and one health veterinarian as well as researchers in universities and research institutes at home and abroad.

In order to be reborn as an international veterinary education institute, the College of Veterinary Medicine will carry out 'Competence-based Veterinary Education (day 1 practice)' for playing a role as a veterinarian in clinical and preventive field immediately after graduation. We will also endeavor to innovatively improve and develop the educational environment in order to cultivate “Future Veterinary Talent” who can lead the fourth industrial revolution.

All members of our college, including professors, students, staff and graduates, will communicate with each other with passion and vision. We will leap forward to become a global veterinary educational institution through rational university operation.
